2018 has been a wild year!
It's been an amazing year for photography, photographers and This Week in Photo! I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your support and encouragement during this latest trip around the Sun. TWiP has come a long way but has an even longer and exciting journey ahead.
Many of you may not know that I am from Chicago (though I was born in Flint, Michigan). And even fewer of you may not know that my big sister, Sheryl Holman founded a non-profit in the Chicagoland area called Community Assistance Programs (CAPs).
Community Assistance Programs are fighting the gun violence battle on the front lines in some of the most destitute and crime-ravaged South Side communities of Chicago. CAPs are making a difference by placing thousands of people in jobs. And through their efforts, you hear less about Chicago violence and more about the beauty that is the Windy City.
Unfortunately, over the past year or so many of the government grants that CAPs relies on, have been terminated.
When my big sister, who NEVER asks for anything from ANYONE, asked me to help get the word out for donations. I knew this was a “Hail Mary”.
So, if you're looking for ways to help people, why not help stop Chicago violence this holiday season? This is an ideal (and tax-deductible) way to do so.
Please donate whatever you can (preferably before the end of the year). And if you can't donate, please check out their website to see what the CAPs mission is — it's pretty cool.
