Speed Up Your SmugMug Uploads with Apple Shortcuts

Make your mobile photography workflow smoother.

Here's something that's going to make your mobile photography workflow so much smoother. If you're like most photographers I know, you've got a camera roll full of amazing shots waiting to be shared on SmugMug. But between client work, shooting, and editing, finding time for uploads can be tough. Your phone holds countless photos, but the manual upload process keeps pushing them into the “I'll do it later” folder.

That's why I'm excited to share a new update to the popular SmugMug iOS app – now with Apple Shortcuts support! I'll demo this new feature by building two Apple Shortcuts that turn the SmugMug upload process into something you can handle right from your phone, even between shoots. These shortcuts have changed how I manage my mobile workflow, and today I'm going to show you exactly how to use them.

I've been testing these shortcuts for the past few weeks, and they've already saved me hours.

Download the shortcuts and follow along! Today we'll be building:

The Send A PHOTO to SmugMug shortcut:This shortcut grabs your most recent photo, lets you make quick edits, and sends it straight to your chosen SmugMug gallery. Perfect for those times when you want to share a single shot — fast.

The Send SOME PHOTOS to SmugMug shortcut: This one's my favorite. Select multiple photos, batch edit them, and upload them all at once. You'll even get a voice confirmation when everything's finished uploading – no more checking back to see if the upload completed.

Want to try them yourself? You'll need:

These shortcuts are completely customizable, and just a starting point for you to adjust to your workflow needs. Maybe you want to add automatic watermarking, or perhaps you prefer a different editing app – it's all possible.

I'd love to hear how these shortcuts work for you, feel free to share your experiences or any custom tweaks you've made.

Happy Shortcutting!
