Welcome to Episode 3 of Street Focus!
This is our first Streets of the World segment which will be on a rotation every third episode of the show. Our first major city featured is Los Angeles and your guide is street photographer Rinzi Ruiz.

- Hollywood
- Beverly Hills
- Santa Monica
- Chinatown
- LA Bridges
- Olvera Street
- Union Station
Other neighborhoods – some safe (some not):
- South Central
- East Los Angeles
- Watts
Safety first!:
Most of these areas are okay but if you go to some of the LA neighborhoods just make sure to do some research and know at least some of the history of that area, like Watts for example. Ask around and see what areas NOT to go into. There are many that have gang activity, and it's best to avoid their territories.

Sorry for the delay on itunes! I hope you enjoyed the first Streets of the world segment, I did! Rinzi is awesome. I said “that’s awesome” too much in the show 😉
Just finished listening to the show. May I make a suggestion, I would plan where you shoot by the area you are going to stay in. The public transportation here is one of the worst all all major cities in the United States. If plan on staying in the Santa Monica area (West Los Angeles), I would try to cover the Santa Monica /Venice and the next day downtown Los Angeles or Beverly Hills.
Do you have your dates that you plan on visiting?
Thank you for the suggestion David. I’ll be there at the end of Feb. Since I am co-leading the workshop with a local photographer, I’ll rely on my guide!

Cool show. Enjoyed the tips on where to shoot in Los Angeles. I do think from traveling to LA in the past for business that you really need a rental car. Never been on the subway before, but the city is so spread out I’ve got to believe the rental car is the way to go especially if you want to venture into some of the suburbs.
When you go in February, make sure to hit Boyle Heights, a neighborhood near downtown. That was my favorite neighborhood for street work when I was in LA. The murals there are the best in the city.
