Like so many others, Beryl got her first “big” camera when she was waiting for her first child. She started a daily photo project, a 365 project, before her first child was born. She lost that first child, Bella, halfway through her pregnancy. Shortly after her loss, she picked up her camera and started making photos. She used her photography to help her move through the grief she felt. She shared her experience and encouraged others who were suffering the similar losses to use their cameras and photos for healing by creating an online course called, Illuminate.
Beryl is a teacher by trade and discovered how natural it was for her to help people learn to use their cameras. She started teaching locally and also created an online course to help people get the most of their new camera. She now also offers an online course to help people get photos off of their hard drive and into photo books. And, most recently she has created a children’s book titled, Phoebe the Photographer Gets a Camera.
We all want to be better photographers. And, it takes practice. That’s what I’m doing this year along with an warm, funny and kind group of TWiP Family listeners. Join us on Flickr.
